Notwithstanding recent terrible occurrences in the sector, like as the failure of FTX, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian thinks that cryptocurrencies, and Bitcoin in particular, are here to stay.
In a Forbes interview, Ohanian compared the development of blockchain to the invention of paper and predicted that as time went on, we will start to see more and more uses for this technology that would “compound in value and utility.”
He also discussed NFTs, adding that he thinks generational trauma is a key factor in motivating him to stick with NFTs and new social networks despite the “chilly winter storm” the cryptocurrency industry is now experiencing.
Ohanian, who refers to himself as a “crypto pragmatist,” provided some observations from his own experience that led him to increase his investment in crypto. He admitted that his ancestors had been genocide victims who had their
property and possessions taken by the criminals while they were still alive.
Ohanian noted that even after another challenging year for the cryptocurrency sector, his family’s history motivated him to stick with the industry.
